Born in Boulder, CO, Julia is currently pursuing a dual master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning and Landscape Architecture from the University of Colorado Denver. At CU Denver, she worked for the Colorado Center for Community Development, assisting small towns along the Western Slope on their design goals. She is fascinated by cultural landscapes, the urban-rural relationship, and local history. These fascinations began when she journeyed north at age 18, attending the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Her last semester studying geography was spent on the archipelago of Haida Gwaii, BC, where she learned about natural resource and tourism communities from a First Nations’ perspective. After a while, she missed green chile and sunshine and found herself in New Mexico as an AmeriCorps VISTA, developing a love for the desert before coming home to the mountains of Colorado.
